Basic troubleshooting tips
Troubleshooting Live USB Boot-up Problems:
Step 1: Check the USB drive and ISO image Make sure that the USB drive is properly inserted and that the ISO image was written to the USB drive correctly. Check the integrity of the ISO image by verifying the checksum.
Step 2: Check the BIOS settings Make sure that the computer's BIOS is set up to boot from the USB drive. You may need to enter the BIOS and change the boot order to prioritize the USB drive.
Step 3: Try a different USB port If the USB drive is not being detected during boot-up, try using a different USB port.
Step 4: Disable Secure Boot If the computer has Secure Boot enabled, disable it in the BIOS. Secure Boot can sometimes prevent the live USB from booting properly.
X Configuration/Video Issues:
Step 1: Check the display settings If the display is not showing up properly, check the display settings in the System Settings menu. Make sure that the correct resolution and refresh rate are selected.
Step 2: Check the video drivers Make sure that the correct video drivers are installed. If you are using an NVIDIA or AMD graphics card, install the proprietary drivers from the official repositories.
Step 3: Check the Xorg configuration file If the Xorg configuration file has been modified, it may be causing problems. Check the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and make sure that it is configured correctly.
Network Issues:
Step 1: Check the network settings Make sure that the correct network settings are selected in the Network Manager. If you are using a wired connection, make sure that the Ethernet cable is properly connected.
Step 2: Check the network drivers Make sure that the correct network drivers are installed. If you are using a wireless connection, make sure that the correct wireless drivers are installed and that the wireless network is within range.
Step 3: Check the firewall settings If the firewall is blocking the network connection, disable it temporarily to see if that resolves the issue. If it does, you may need to adjust the firewall settings to allow the necessary network traffic.
